Happy Autumn Equinox, OddFauna Fans! 🍁  

I hope this update finds you safe and cozy on the first official day of Fall. I’ve been working like a development devil preparing the game for Alpha.

For those lucky backers who have access to Alpha, more information about the closed Alpha Testing will be coming very soon. I’ll have the start date, a dedicated Discord channel, and lots of information about what exactly will be playable.

For now, I’m super excited to share this batch of updates along with some new gameplay and behind-the-scenes shots. Emma has been working hard on sculpting new versions of Astor for our character customizations! Eagle-eyed backers will notice the Kickstarter exclusive Gold Cloak on the left.

Here’s a few of the new features and changes:

• Created multi-layered noise solution for generating terrain. This means we have even cooler, more dynamic terrain to explore!
   
• Made water system improvements including dynamic plane vs flat plane which allows for waterfalls and more exciting features
   
• Improved day and night cycle
   
• Implemented a seasonal framework build (which means we now have 4 seasons!)
   
• Created new grassland based plants + fruits
   
• Applied bush and plant growth cycles. As the days pass, you’ll be able to see flora growing!
   
• Added collision detection to plants
   
• Fixed hex grid bugs
   
• Produced a new Ovok model and new berry patch added to the game (that’s where Ovok likes to chill)
   

Thanks for following along, everyone! We’re getting so close to experiencing Alpha. The world of the Terrabeast awaits!

Hello Terrabeast travelers!

How have your dog days of summer been? It's been a great summer for us! A busy summer! But a great one. I've been grinding on development and have lots to share!

The big news, right off the bat, is that our Backerkit is ending in less than 48 hours!! 

This is your last chance to grab a preordered digital copy of the game and last chance to snag gorgeous physical items like the Terrabeast pin, Terrabeast bandana, or the Mighty Beast & Astor statue. There's also wonderful digital treats like Alpha Access and in-game adornments!

It's also your last chance to adjust your order if you've already placed one.

Game Dev Updates Galore! 🏄🕹️

Hi OddFauna friends! Hope everyone's summer is going swimmingly!

It's been 2 months since the kickstarter ended and my focus has happily been solely on development. There's been a lot of progress and still lots to do!!!

We're almost finished with the Backerkit surveys - about 85% complete. If you haven't had the chance, take a gander at our Backerkit - oddfauna.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders - lots of goodies on there!

Here are some of the game dev related improvements that I’ve has been working on recently:

- Improved terrain with more dynamic mountains, rivers, lakes
- Optimized terrain deformation code from 20 ms to 1-3 ms
- Added Aphid characters - hostile to players when the world is agitated
- Built new conversation system
- Created Hot and cold climates
- Added swimming (appropriate because it is summertime after all)
- Prototyped new plant sculpting technique (failed but was cool)  
- Fixed Molo bug
- Reduced load times down significantly
- Able to spawn 4x4 zones now instead of 3x3 (basically a big map to play in)

Emma has been working on some new OddFauna and updated models for the game:

- Feroflo the flying mount!
- New Trico model
- New Mo model
- Pika Model (our in-game merchant)
